Did a quick bomb at Cheam this afternoon. Nothing out of the ordinary was seen. I didnt check out the lake very closely thus the lack of much waterfowl seen. The best was a mixed flock of small birds consisting of: Warbling Vireo Western Tanager Black-throated Grey Warbler MacGillvray's Warbler Brown Creeper Black-capped Chickadee Downy Woodpecker Still a few eastern kingbirds kicking around too. Saw one ruffed grouse and heard the clucking of two or three more on the Creek Trail. Possibly a small family? Almost will be nice to get a bit of foul weather to slow down the migrants for a closer look.

Hi Gord: What time did you go? After the hike, my vehicle was in Rosedale anyway so I checked out the wetlands from about 3:30 to 5:30. The only notable I got (to me, anyway) was the black-throated gray warbler. What I'm wondering is where do you usually see the ruffed grouse (is there a more specific location than the creek trail?) Is it usually in the blackberries or something? Thanks. --Jeff P.S. So now, instead of a Macgillivray's, it's a ruffed grouse!

Must have just missed you!
The ruffed grouse seem to be on the Creek Trail of late. Both times they were just before the bridge over the creek.
