Went out in the boat from Island 22 to meet Kiyoshi to band the purple martins. On the way down and back we saw:
Barn Swallow Violet-green Swallow Tree Swallow 1 Purple Martin Vaux Swift Great Blue Heron Green Heron at Nicomen Slough Mallard Turkey Vulture 5+ Ospreys 1 Bald Eagle 3 Spotted Sandpipers Glaucous-winged Gull 1 adult Herring Gull which I was somewhat surprised to see. Had good views and it came by really close at the end and I could even see the yellow eye which confirmed all the other fieldmarks I was seeing. 1 juv Bonaparte's Gull moulting into 1st winter plumage 2 juv Ring-billed Gull 10+ California Gull all juv as well Rock Dove (Feral Pigeon) Willow Flycatcher Northwestern Crow Common Raven Black-capped Chickadee Cedar Waxwing European Starling
At Island 22 main gate, a pair of Eastern Kingbirds were sitting on the wires.
Out at Cheam Lake Wetlands in the afternoon:
2 Belted Kingfishers 1 Northern Flicker 1 Downy Woodpecker 2 female or imm Pileated Woodpecker 4 Western Wood-Pewee 6 Willow Flycatcher some with juv 4 Eastern Kingbird 1 Red-eyed Vireo feeding cowbird 2 Common Raven Black-capped Chickadee 2 Bewick's Wren, one looked to be a youngster practicing its song 10+ American Robin, some in a loose flock 1 Swainson's Thrush Cedar Waxwing 1 Yellow Warbler Black-headed Grosbeaks with lots of young 2 juv Spotted Towhee Song Sparrow Brown-headed Cowbird
