Checked out the lake at about midday.
On the lake, the highlights were 8 white-fronted geese, several cackling geese, a horned grebe and two blue-winged teal. I saw another teal that was a bit odd. I lean towards cinnamon teal, but something wasnt quite right. Denis saw it too later and also wondered about it. I think it was a cinnamon but not a typical one. They can be difficult at this time of year and hybrid's are not unknown. The merlin was still seen hunting dragonflies too which was a lot of fun to watch.
Small bird wise, it was nothing of note. Lots of yellow-rumped warblers and almost 20 ruby-crowned kinglets. A little group of brown creepers offered great views.
At the end down on the loop trail I found a Virginia rail which is the latest record for the area.
