Actually this is a two day report of birding activity around the Hope airport. Today was windy, and the bird activity was much less than yesterday. Still had a first of year EASTERN KINGBIRD, and a not so common NORTHERN HARRIER, ( for this time of year ). Yesterday with all the low cloud, and rain, with no wind, the place was rocking. In the 4 km stretch around the airport, I counted 20 plus WESTERN WOOD PEEWEES. It must have been a bit of a fallout, because I can't imagine them sharing that limited amount of territory; ( only one seen today ). Also an OLIVE SIDED FLYCATCHER, WARBLING VIREO, 4 speciess of warblers ( COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, WILSON'S, YELLOW RUMPED, and ORANGE CROWNED ), BAND TAILED PIGEON, TURKEY VULTURE, CLIFF SWALLOW, SAVANNAH SPARROW, WHITE CROWNED SPARROW, and along the Interfor Slough, about 5 SPOTTED SANDPIPERS. This Friday, I am hikig the Silver Skagit Trail in Manning with my students. Maybe, something interesting will turn up. Thor
