Well, not much info, but an interesting observation.
On Thursday, I was at Cheam Lake in the morning. I happened to look up to see the mute swan coming in for a landing on the lake. He flew in from a NE direction and when I first spotted him, he was 150 feet up.
So the question on how well he flies has been answered. Up until then, I had only seen him do a few short flights and not too far from the water (10 feet plus).
He was resting on an island close to the viewpoint, but when I came up for a better look, he was obviously nervous, and swam off.
