I made a brief stop at the wetlands again this afternoon (Not bad, two days in a row!). It did not take long to get over 20 species of land birds. Of interest was 4 Eastern Kingbirds and at least 6 Bullock's Orioles. I saw another Red-eyed Vireo and had good views of a Yellowthroat, Yellow Warblers, etc.... Another unidentifed Flycatcher (I can't ID it without hearing it, sorry ) Both Red-eyed Vireo's were hanging around with the Chickadees. Is that common? Oh, there was also a young man there catching frogs? He had his bucket hopping. Here is a picture of one of the kingbirds.

Vireos often hang out in mixed flocks, but in my experience, more so during migration time. I guess we are still in spring migration. As for the guy with the frogs, Id be interested in some more information, especially if the frogs (even though they are non-native green frogs) were being removed from the park.

I can't offer you much insight on the frog-napper, as I noticed the frogs hopping later on when we were apart (binos are great for figuring out what someone is doing with a net!). When I saw him at first by the parking area, he was trying to catch a Gartner Snake, and my thoughts were, "Isn't that guy kind of old to be doing that???" By old I mean, my age, if you know me. . I viewed him later from the loop trail after following a Bullock's Oriole in my binos which landed in the tree above him. Perhaps I should have asked a few questions. I could have at least tried to look important. Maybe I'll spray-paint FVRD on my truck door. Dave
