The Barred Owls inspired me to check out the backyard/wetlands in the rain late this afternoon. Lots of action, considering how late I was! 4 Bullock's Orioles Yellow Warblers 1 Orange-crowned Warbler Yellow-rumped Warblers Black-capped Chickadees Chestnut-backed Chickadees Lots of Cedar Waxwings 1 Red-eyed Vireo (never saw one before at Cheam Wetlands) 1 Western Wood-peewee (never saw him there before either) A different flycatcher at dusk Looked like either a Hammonds or Dusky, maybe a Least? It was flitting around with some nesting material around 730ish. I couldn't get it to make any noise!!! Downy Woodpecker Flicker Belted Kingfisher Black-headed Grosbeak Swainson's Thrush Robin Towhee Marsh Wren Winter Wren An osprey fishing at 7:45 in the pouring rain/almost dark! I never saw an osprey there before either (You can tell I don't go to the Wetlands enough by all the first sightings! ) and the usual ducks and swallows and the like. Here are some pictures. Have fun trying to see what they are! (Lighting was not only poor, it was mostly gone!) Note: the pictures keep getting darker. Dave

Good report and pictures! I like the one of the marsh wren!
The osprey have a nest across the lake when you view from the viewing platform directly south. They are on the little mountain in a snag right on top overlooking the lake. There was one sitting on the nest last week.
