I needed a break from working on the papers that have been taking a lot of time lately. So, I went to check if the Harris' Sparrow was still around to get a bit of fresh air. I found it fairly quickly in the blackberries among a lot of Dark-eyed Juncos. I was actually enjoying looking at all the juncos when I caught a glimpse of the white belly of the Harris' through the brambles. It then moved up for a bit before flying out into the weeds with the juncos. For more information on this species in the area, click hereA fluffy little junco.

WE spent about 1/2 an hour there yesterday and scrounged through every bird without any luck. What were you feeding it?

Hmmm something going on here. Been there twice with no luck, and look what Gord pulls in soooo quickly. He must be doing some sort of "sparrow whispering". Great images Chris.

Len, it has expensive tastes. Caviar seems to do the trick.
Ken, just good timing I think. When the sparrows and juncos are out in the field on the ground it's near impossible to see much more than movement. But they all come back to sit in the blackberries every little while.
