The other day, my Dad and I went for a short "birding drive". We didn't get started until 5pm On the advice of Jason, we decided to try Elkview Road from the bottom to the gravel section at top. We saw 30+ species in 2 hours so were very pleased. Lots of Band-tailed Pigeons, Western Tanagers, Brown Creepers, a Red-breasted Sapsucker, a Hairy Woodpecker and noisy youngsters in a nest hole, dusky flycatcher, lots of noisy black-headed grosbeaks, a wilson's warbler, western kingbird, among others. A very enjoyable route with good variety. I am sure there are a lot more at a better time of day!

Well, Jason....It was your yard! Far west side, hanging out in the tree tops farly close (We were looking down at it for sometime) around 530ish.....There were a number of Band-tailed Pigeons far below in the trees as well. (Good thing I got 10x40's ). Your yard also produced the Western Tanager and Red-breasted Sapsucker. Dave

Wonder if that is one of the western kingbirds Jason saw down in the fields below a few days prior? Interesting if so as the bird would have hung around and during good migration weather too.
