At about midnight:30 I heard out the open window what sounded like a spotted sandpiper calling! I cant think of anything else that sounds like that. Maybe a big push is coming through? I saw the first spotted sandpipers at Cheam that day. Probably migrants over the very few who spend the winter in the area.
Anyway, aside from Killdeer which are often heard at night, this is the first other shorebird Ive heard in the dead of night.
