The Central Valley Field Naturalist's had a fieldtrip to Cheam Lake in the morning. About 12 members showed up. We had a great time and the weather was great as well.
Highlights included seeing the osprey on her nest, watching a male red-winged blackbird briefly land on the back of a bald eagle to deliver a good peck, some good views of several Bullock's orioles and a very cooperative red-tailed hawk. The species list, that ended with getting a starling, totaled 53 species, keeping my promise! (although I sort of cheated when I got a couple species before the trip started as I came early)
Mute swan
Pied-billed grebe
Great blue heron
Turkey Vulture
Canada goose
Wood Duck
Mallard
Ring-necked duck
Bufflehead
Hooded Merganser
