I saw a male Calliope Hummingbird this morning and again at noon and I thought I saw two this evening. they were at this very large cherry tree in my mom's driveway. This morning I came up with this hypothesis that the Calliope Hummingbird where nectaring at the apple and cherry blossoms when migrating through this area. This though occurred to me when I saw one at a very large cherry tree this morning. Yesterday day I saw one at Derby Reach and thought it was nectaring on apple blossoms. I started thinking where besides feeders had I seen them feed. Well it seemed that most were around apple or cherry blossoms at least around this part of the Fraser Valley. If any one is interested in seeing if this works to find Calliope the best time to try this is this week as the apples are coming in to bloom now. Fine a group of large cherry or apple tree do this gust before dusk when the hummers are tanking up for the evening. Make certain the tree has lots of bees gathering nectar. It would be great to see if this work for finding migrating Calliopes. Who knows, I get the odd black chinned maybe this is where they fine there nectar when the rufous drive them away. Good luck birdsers! Denis

Hi all, Well I looked in the big cherry tree again this evening (I was gone all day) and the Calliope was there. I was happy to see that the male Calliopes was there. I've had Calliopes coming to my feeder since 1987 and have always just seen them for a few second at a time, they may come and feed three four time and then there gone. I watched it for at least 10 min this evening. I forgot to mention it yesterday, there where at least 14 Ruofus in the tree at the same time as the Calliope tonight and last night. Good luck! Denis
