Hello birders,
I took a whirlwind trip up to the Okanagan today with the hopes of seeing these two rarities. I left at 3:30am, and as luck would have it, they both obliged. I managed to see the Little Blue Heron in Westbank at 6:50 and then met Thor, where we quickly spotted the Northern Parula at Inkaneep Provincial Park. Back home by 3:30 with my two new BC ticks.

12 hours....2 BC ticks....well done! Glad to hear your trip was successful. That Parula sure has been around a while! It certainly was the week of rarities!

Congratulations Brent, I had to make two trips to get the birds.
We managed to relocate the heron a little north of where it was previously being seen, around noon today. It was moving around a fair bit in the vicinity of Pritchard Creek and Pritchard Park. Hopefully it will stay long enough for others to see this mega-rarity.

Hi Murray,
glad to hear you made the second trip up for the Little Blue Heron. It is not too often that you get a chance for two excellent rarities on the same day or even in the same week.
Cheers, Brent
