Thor Manson, who used to be found around here but has since migrated a little bit east, just called me to say that he was looking at a juvenile Little Blue Heron! It was found yesterday but this morning was confirmed as such. It is found at the mouth of Power Creek where it empties into Okanagan Lake which can be accessed from Gellatly Road. The bird is actively feeding and seems quite content. Anyone who's a part of the Interior bird group will see more info. Thanks, Thor! November sure has been an interesting month.

What a crazy November!! I would expect a few rarities in November from the north but instead all of them have been birds that should be south! I had to check where Little Blue Herons typical range is. Wow, is he well out of his range.

Actually Chris, the southern egret/herons have quite a reputation for post breeding northern irruptions. Mind you they don't usually end up quite this far north but there have been reports of them as far as Alaska, and the Canadian Territories. Keep on coming I say!
