The farmers cut the corn on Wednesday, so I've been able to walk in the back field a bit (the fields on the north end of Leary Park). Yesterday yielded some American pipits, a willow tree loaded with sparrows, mostly song sparrows and some white-crowned sparrows. Today I saw more white-crowned sps in the hedge of berry trees just behind the baseball diamond at Leary Park, and I think I saw a different-looking sparrow but I lost it before I could get any field marks on it. The highlight today was a juvenile northern harrier hunting- ;D -I noticed in the big Sibley's that we're kind of close to where their winter, summer, and all-year ranges meet, so I'm not sure if this is a first for the winter or not. --Jeff

Hi Jeff: Nice birds. I see Northern Harrier all year long buzzing the strip of grass that makes up the Hope airstrip. Cheers. Thor
