Apparently tonight is going to be the best night to see them. Might try for a peek before bed.

It was a good show, but we had to be really patient. Every time I saw one my hubby was looking the other way or vis versa. Always works that way. At least I saw a few good ones. Hope you had some good sightings too!

I did see a few thanks! It was really neat to see. I tried for some photos of this event. Taking pictures in the dark sure adds a new element to things. A two-second exposure gets you this with just the brightest starts appearing. Twenty-seconds exposure gets you more stars, but the ambient light from town and streetlights starts to show up (that reddish cast). Unless one is out in the middle of nowhere, it's tough to do very long exposures. Plus, you'd be surprised how far the stars move in just 20 seconds. Do an exposure for an hour and it's really neat! Anyway, I did many many exposures hoping for a meteor to zoom by. I got a satellite (the white line near the bottom) And and airplane, And finally, a meteor!! I didnt realize I got one until I looked later. Even though it was the middle of the night, I got some birding in. The good kind of birding reclined in a deck chair. A Barn Owl screeched several times. Regularly I heard the flight calls of warblers going over on their migration. I identified Black-throated Grey Warbler and Wilson's Warbler but there were some I was not sure. It is utterly amazing to think that hundreds or even thousands of these tiny little birds passed over head in the dark on their way south. I also heard a Spotted Sandpiper call three or four times. Was not expecting that!

LOL!! That's worse than me trying to get a picture of a slug doing his thing. But glad you finally got a meteor

Interesting photos Gord! Never thought about doing that until we saw yours! We saw 6 meteors on each night that we watched. Thanks for the reminder, it has been a tradition for years for Bruce and I to watch them. We also had an owl fly overhead, lit up from the street lights on the road, couldn't give a good id.
