Dead Bird

Some friends that live on Chiilliwack Central Road across from Canner Nurseries phoned me this morning as they had a dead owl hanging from a telephone pole. It turned out to be a Snowy Owl. Here is the evidence. You can see it hanging from CHWK Central Road or from the highway. It is about halfway between the two.




Do you think it flew into the pole/wires, or did it get fried by the electricity? I await your guess.

AH, what a bummer!!!!

It's hard to say. I dont know if it would have got fried since there's nothing to ground itself on. Possibly flew into it, but also maybe could have been carried there by an eagle? Almost looks a little rough to have just flew into the wires. I bet you an eagle was involved. Not necessarily killing it (but possible...raptors eat raptors on occassion), but if the owl was a roadkill or something an eagle could have carried it up there.

Darn shame though.
