A late report, as I was too busy with the start of school, but anytime is better than never. We weren't there long in both places as the main purpose of the trip was to visit family, so I won't bore you with those details. White Rock was fairly busy as it was very nice out. A raft of Scoters greeted me as I looked out on the water. Mostly White-winged, but some Surf Scoters were also present. No Black Scoters were seen there. A few Common Goldeneyes and Buffleheads were also out on the water. Out further was a Pacific Loon and a Red-necked Grebe was also close by. Walking on the pier, I saw two Western Grebes sleeping near some boats. Here's one of them. Coming back two White-winged Scoters and I believe one female Surf Scoter(but I am not 100% sure) were near the pier so I snapped a picture. Out at Blackie Spit were tons of Ring-billed Gulls. Walking the trail to get to the spit, I saw a lot of Green-winged Teal, American Wigeons and Northern Pintails. When I got to the spit I saw the Long-billed Curlew, five Marbled Godwits, American Wigeons, Green-winged Teal and two Eurasian Wigeons. A Mute Swan was also on the wate as well. Here is a picture of a few Double-crested Coromorants. I also watched, and photographed, a Ring-billed Gull eating an orange.

Nice and sharp photos, Chris. I like the sleeping Western Grebe shot.
Could that 3rd Scoter also be a White-winged? The bill looks very similar to the one at the bottom of the photo. Possibly a 1st winter bird?
Just a thought (keep in mind it is coming from a guy who has little experience with scoters...)
