Went for a drive with Jamie while the younger ones napped. Stopped to check a flock of swallows on Banford Rd and found a bank swallow and two cliff swallows among probably 75 barn swallows and close to 20 violet-green swallows. While we were here, a lonely Vaux's swift flew over too. Went on to Cheam Lake and had a walk out to the viewing platform. Didnt see much small bird wise, but then always tricky when birding with someone who currently possesses two speaking volumes; loud and louder. ;D We saw: Pied-billed Grebe 10+ Horned Grebe 2 Great Blue Heron 1 Canada Goose 60+ Wood Duck 3 Mallard 15+ American Wigeon 1 Northern Shoveler 2 Ring-necked Duck 35+ Ruddy Duck 1 female American Coot 12 Belted Kingfisher 2 Steller's Jay 2 Common Raven 1 Black-capped Chickadee 4 American Robin 2 Yellow-rumped Warbler 8 Black-throated Grey Warber 1 White-crowned Sparrow 2 immature

Gord: That lonely Vaux's Swift should have lots of company soon. For the past 24 hours the skies over Hope have been almost darkened with the silhouettes of these guys. Cheers. Thor
