This year's Eagle Fest was a bit on the wet side, but a success as always. With higher water levels covering much of the sand bars and salmon carcasses, the eagles were more spread out. We were able to see around 300 from our vantage point. Other highlights was a Red-breasted Merganser female that was seen on both days. A small flock of about 3 Common Redpolls flew over on Saturday morning calling away enthusiastically. It was nice to see several local birders including Brent, Murray and grandson, Deb and Tony, Darrel, Issac (our youngest birder on the site!) and his brother, Dave, Lynn and family and Sue. Some photos from the two days. I thought the rain and lower light would make for poor photos. I guess this is true in a sense, but still things can be salvaged. I like how the ones of the Trumpeter Swans turned out. The Red-breasted Merganser (on the right) with a Common Merganser. Together they are noticeably different. A flock of mostly Northern Pintails flew over. Finally, the eagles. Good to see lots of wildlife activity as well as lots of people coming out to enjoy and appreciate them.

Gord, considering the weather, those turned out very well. I especially liked the one of the three swans coming in with their landing gear down.

We are glad that everything went well. Those are great photos, we love the swans against the wonderful landscapes. The Eagles are super!
