hello birders i went to 45922 higginson rd. in chillwack this morning to see if i could see the western scrub-jay, for the 3rd try. i parked across the street at the church and waited. i waited for about 45 mins. before i was rewarded with awesome views of the bird. in the mean time, waiting for the jay, i watched a first winter harris's sparrow feed below the feeder along the drive way. i watched this bird come and go for about 25 mins. before the jay came to feed. two very nice birds in this yard. if you go to find these birds please respect their property. i also looked for the glaucous gull again today but did not see it. i did see a western gull at prairie central and banford rd. this is where i saw the glaucous gull yesterday. for the third morning in a row. if you are looking for the glaucous gull i suggest going early in the morning. today i went at 12:00 and it was not there. i usually see it around 8:30 am. while looking for the gull there were several bald eagles, 2 northern harriers and a peregrine falcon. also, with a late report 3 days ago while looking out over the cliff my friend todd and i had an adult golden eagle fly by the cliff, giving very good looks; sorry about the lateness on this one. and finally at the feeder i saw the over wintering white-throated sparrow again in my yard. happy new year to all! good birding, jason
