I see it is already on the October list, but a Barred Owl upstaged the professor this evening at about 5:00 pm in my linguistics class. 8-)Flew into a small tree just outside the classroom (D123) and treated us all to some nice views--unfortunately didn't offer any wisdom on the subject of linguistics. I had just commented that successful language learners need to be willing to take risks (getting lauged at for saying something wrong for example). I guess the owl demonstrated my point as it remained silent...if only it had just tried to say something in English it might have surprised itself at its capabilities. ;D Moral: If you don't try, you'll never speak! Course, sometimes silence is best...after all, I wouldn't want to try speaking English for the first time to a whole group of native English speakers staring at me... ;D

Thanks for the info. I'll have to keep my eyes open around the campus.
