Out on the Lagoon in Harrison today looking for the elusive S. Bunting... Elusive to me so far... The Weather has been mostly nasty by the water, but yesterday was great and today, wet. Surprised by a flock of shorebirds circling. Seemed to be 1 small sandpiper in the mix. They did settle on the shore of the Lagoon and I got a few pix in between downpours. Turned out to be a Dunlin (Not strong on shorebirds, but I'm pretty, sure. I tried to turn it into a stilt sandpiper, but it is just too plump and black legged etc. The 9 other birds were of course dowitchers (although I kept seeing up-turned bills in the rain but I forgot about godwits as an ID pretty quick. I kind of knew they were dowitchers as they flew in). Seemed to be Long-bills, because they vocalized, kind of muttering to themselves as they fed. Also seem to be a mix of juvies and adults, but once again I'm learning as I go... Could be a Short-bill mixed in?

Great find Kevin! It certainly looks like a Dunlin to me.
I was out there yesterday in the pouring rain ( I left my house is was not raining so I thought I might get lucky). However, it started to pour rain as soon as I got to the Lagoon. I, like you, had no luck finding the bunting but with the weather conditions I was in, I wasn't shocked that I didn't see him.
