A friend and I drove to the Terra Nova area of West Richmond this morning looking for a reported Black Phoebe. It had been seen by many birders on Tuesday and when it poured rain overnight and then again today we were apprehensive about our chances. As it turned out we needn't have worried as within a few minutes we saw it sitting on the uppermost branch of a Red Cedar. From there it flew down to the meadow and started fly-catching from a one metre high post. It was gratifying to see it as I had missed the one over at Trinity Western a few years ago that was originally found by Stan Olson.

Murray, thanks for the email and glad you got out to see it! Great bird I expect will show up one day around here. Kevin's area is prime. Phoebe also has great potential living near a slough too (never mind the appropriate FVB name!!! ;D ;D )
I always keep an eye at Cheam Lake too. Couldnt be better habitat there too.
