I was just enjoying some R&R on our dock today, playing harp in the sun, when my hubby pointed over to my left and asked what kind of bird that was sitting a short ways off, under our willow tree. I was totally amazed to see a Green Heron sitting there, and as we were watching, another one came to sit even closer to us. I was very surprised, as my personal experience has been that these birds are very people shy. My hubby thought perhaps it was the soft music that did it. Not sure about that , but whatever it was, after sending one of my kids to get my camera, I was glad to get a few good pics before they flew away. And a spotted towhee at my feeder today And one of the white-crowned sparrows that have been visiting our feeders in large numbers in the last few weeks

Just a quick update, we think now that the green herons are nesting close to our house, as we have seen them almost everyday this past week. Also, a pair of cinnamon teals and mallards appear to be nesting nearby as well. Now we'll just keep our eyes open for some ducklings.
