Hi all, On my way out to work this morning, I looked out to the backyard and saw a ton of white-crowned sparrows on our lawn. They were there and at the feeders off and on all day. My mom counted 30 at one time until she lost track!. We usually have them come through for a couple of weeks in the spring, but this seems unusually high. Here's a picture of six of them. I presume they're the West Taiga variety (considering the orange bill) ?

I also had a mass land at my feeder ...they pick up where the Juncos have left off which is great for cleaning the seed off the ground.....

Wow you guys! That's a lot of them!! I think Stan is more up-to-date on the status of the different populations of the White-crowns. I would think Jeff is right these are the ones that migrate to some extent.
Funny you both posted this. Today I noticed about a dozen in my yard as well. There has been a pair for awhile but today I went out and there were a bunch more!
