I have records for migratory Mountain Bluebirds, but nothing for summer. I suspect they breed in Manning Park or are at least seen there during the summer. As I start my vow to bird the park more this year, I am not fully aware. Does anyone know more details? The map below does not include all of Manning but our boundary does include the whole park. fraservalleybirding.com/PDF/FVB%20Boundary.pdf

Gord, we've spent a fair amount of time in Manning Park and I can't say we have ever seen a Mountain Bluebird there. We've seen them along the Hope Princeton as you are approaching the town of Princeton, and we've seen them along the old highway from Princeton to Merritt, but never in Manning itself. I have a feeling that Manning might be too 'treed' as most of the places we are used to seeing them is more open country....of course with all the beetle kill in Manning that has been cleared out that could change. We too plan to spend more time in Manning this year so will definitely keep our eyes open.

Kathy, I think the area they might be seen is up in the alpine like around Buckhorn Camp? I really want to visit that area this summer!

Gord, I remember a few years ago seeing several Mountain Bluebirds on dead snags behind the lookout above Manning Park Lodge, at the end of the paved portion of the road up to Heather Meadows. I don't know how common or uncommon that would be.
