Hello, I've been reading this forum for some time now but have never registered. However, after enjoying a delicious Easter dinner yesterday at my inlaws on Gallanders Rd. I was enjoying the wet views of the surrounding farm land from inside. I noticed a large bird rise out of a grass field some distance away and fly directly to where I was standing. As it flew nearly directly over head I had a clear ID of a Long Billed Curlew. Has any one else seen it around? Any way keep your eyes open if you are in that area. Cheers

Hi Brianm,
Wow! Great find. This is certainly a worthwhile sighting. Perfect timing as they are moving through to their interior nesting zones. A good addition to the monthly list and Regional records. It will be added!
JeffO has also seen them in Chilliwack around this time of year as well.

Hi and welcome Brian! As Dave said, great find indeed! I was out that way this afternoon and I looked around. Did find a flock of 12 Greater Yellowlegs in a pond just north of the tracks on Gibson Road. I thought perhaps the curlew would have been there but no luck. Let us know if you see it again! Ill be in touch with you for the records. I updated the site with local information on Long-billed Curlew for interest's sake. fraservalleybirding.com/Species/Bird%20Accounts/Long-billed%20Curlew.htm
