Today I went to Boundary Bay for a bit and Reifel
It was my first time at Boundary Bay and I walked the dyke but not for long. I saw a Short-Eared Owl as soon as I got there which was the point of going to Boundary Bay so I got lucky. A lifer for me and I also saw an Eurasian Widgeon another lifer for me. There were lots of Savannah Sparrows and one Greater Yellowlegs were the highlights.
The tide was out, and where I was, I wasn't close to the water, so I couldn't see any waterfowl on the bay. I don't know if there is a spot where you can get closer to the water either.
I went to Reifel afterwards. Going there I saw an Eurasian Collared Dove. There was lots of bird activity especially small birds and swallows. I saw both species of kinglets and my first warbler of the year, yellow rumped. Not as many diving ducks there and no snow geese or swans.
It was a great day to get outside and with school drawing to a close I hope to get out more and enjoy it.

Thanks for sharing, bundy. Glad to hear you got to see a Short-eared Owl, certainly a 'magical' species to see.
Keep us up-to-date with what you see in the coming season!
