Hi A few years ago Dian and I joined a birding group from the Edmonton area to do bird counts out of Brooks. It was great way to get to see such birds as Spragues Pipits, Brown Thrasher, Upland Sandpipers, McCowans Longspur, Burrowing Owl, lark Bunting and maybe even a Mountain Plover. We are going to do it again this year on May 15,16 &17 (long weekend). We will be staying in a campsite outside of Brooks. We were wondering if any one else may be interested in joining us and maybe we could get a good contingent from BC this year. The first year we went we stayed in motels. If anyone is interested email me @ jellicoes@shaw.ca

Len, something like this will be of interest to myself when the family gets a little older. A great idea to go as a group especially if some of the group is not familiar with the area. Dave is going to guide me and my family on their first camping trip in the states. We might take our binoculars... Years ago I actually stayed in Brooks but it was during the fall so all those excellent species you mention were not found. I would love to return again. Just have to make sure that there is adequate facilities and interests for non-birders.

Hi Len, Sure sounds like a great way to find some of the prairies specials. It won't work this year, but thanks for posting the offer. Dave P.S. Yes, Gord, still counting on it. I have built my life list around birding/family combination places .

Hi, Len.
Is there any indication of nesting Mountain Plovers in the SE corner of Alberta this year?
I can't go on this trip, but someday I'd love to, though that's the only species I need from those you listed. It's a wonderful area to bird.

Gord-It would be a great place to camp with the kids. Lots of Dinosaurs in the area. Dave you are welcome. Not many people know of this outing. Stan- I haven't heard of any Plovers been seen but then they usually keep it quiet. When we were there a few years ago we missed seeing them by about 5 minutes (long story).
