My dad and I were birding in Manning Park and found this female common grackle (in first basic plumage) in the parking lot at Lightning Lakes at about 9:30 this morning, 5 April. I was quickly able to get a photo before it flew. We returned at about 11:30 but could not relocate it. A very strange record! Andrew Foxall

Andrew, great discovery! Certainly a strange record and the first, to my knowledge, for the checklist area.
Undoubtedly a fly through on migration and a very lucky spotting as it probably was not in the area for long.
Thanks for sharing the sighting and photo. Excellent!

Hello Birders
WOW! Great bird for our area! I feel like chasing but I would image it has left the area with this great weather.
