Trudi, that bird is a Ruby-crowned Kinglet, a much more common bird than the Hutton's Vireo. But they are very similar and easily confused. If you get a good look at the vireo you will see that it has a bill that is larger and not nearly as fine and pointed as the kinglet. It also has noticeably thicker legs. Also the kinglet is a much quicker moving and "twitchier" bird. Finally, although the vireo is small it's not as tiny as the kinglet. It's an easy mistake to make.
