Trudi, beautiful photos! Really nicely done. Love how the skinny legs are so well shown in the last photo. Dont feel too bad about the hawk. Often they capture sick birds that might otherwise infect other birds and when they get a full tummy, will leave things peaceful for awhile. Saying "it's just part of nature and the little hawk needs food too" doesnt always help though, but I finally came to accept the little hawks as part of the feeder. It does not help when they sit there arrogantly on one leg as if to say "Well, what are you going to do about it?" Raptors do indeed know they are cool. ;D I laughed at your husband's comment too! You asked about your multipoos safety with this guy. I would say he/she's safe as a Sharp-shin's focus is mostly small birds, but if you had a large Cooper's Hawk and certainly a Northern Goshawk I would be concerned. Wow, love your photos! Had to say so again.
