Hi, This handsome intergrade flicker has been visiting the suet regularly. He has a red crescent on his nape as other intergrades do but isn't it interesting that he has a mixture of both red and yellow tail feathers? Is this very common? Pat

Neat birds guys!!
Pat, I wouldnt say they are common, but certainly not uncommon either (how's that for a politicians answer!?! ;D )
Certainly of note. Ive noticed that on bird study initiatives, (Great Backyard Bird Count, E-Bird etc) that they have an area to mark such sightings so obviously they are interested to see how frequent and widespread this hybrid is.
