Went fishing for a couple hours this morning down by the train bridge downstream of Lickman Rd, and of course did as much birding as I did fishing.
Lots of yellow-rumped warbers moving through the whole time I was there. Watched an American dipper being chased by a sharp-shinned hawk. The dipper landed quite close to me, and the hawk gave up. Made me wonder if the dipper used me to discourage the hawk. Cute little guy who made his displeasure of being chased quite obvious.
Birds I observed were:
Great blue heron Canada goose Mallard Glaucous-winged gull Sharp-shinned hawk Northern flicker Downy woodpecker Steller's jay Northwestern crow Black-capped chickadee Brown creeper Bewick's wren (this is a very reliable place to see these guys almost year round) Ruby-crowned kinglet American robin American pipit (2 flew overhead) American dipper Yellow-rumped warbler Song sparrow Dark-eyed junco House finch American goldfinch (one flew by)
