I have a new visitor to my feeders today... what appears to be a female goldfinch in winter plumage... she seems to be the only one of her kind and is travelling with the junco's and sparrows as they come and go.... I've never seen one at this time of year... does anyone know if they are regular visitors? I live in Abbotsford.
Thanks Susan Raw Abbotsford

Susan, an American Goldfinch would be likely. They're not as widespread as during the summer but some do hang around in the winter in their drab winter colours.
One thing that caught my eye was when you mentioned it is with juncos and sparrows. Is it in the flock or just at the feeders at the same time? Sometimes really neat birds hang out with juncos! ;D
