Today I ran across a small Cooper's Hawk juvenile on the wires. I stopped for a couple shots of a cooperative bird just like Jeffar's one in his backyard. After a bit, it spied some little birds in the weeds below and went down to try for them. The little birds were smart and went into hiding instead of taking flight. The hawk considered the situation. Then he went on the prowl through the weeds undoubtedly with the intent to flush the birds from hiding so he could catch them when they got out in the open. Several times he would make a short and noisy flight to try and spook the little birds. The little birds evaded him by laying low, and, after looking around a little longer, he flew back up to reconnoiter. One never knows when something interesting will happen!
