Here are the dates for the local counts. I sure hope that many can make it. It's a lot of fun and there is no need to be an expert either!

Chilliwack CBC - Saturday Dec 20, 2008 (potluck supper to follow, lots of fun!)
Agassiz/Harrison CBC - TBA

Pre-count meeting for both on Tuesday Dec 16, 2008, 6:30 at the Chilliwack Library. Yours truly will be doing a presentation on the intimate details of doing a CBC and of course, will talk about some birds we might see too. These meetings are very relaxed and informal, so dont be shy!

Central Valley CBC (Mission and Abbotsford) - Saturday Jan 3, 2009

Hey, Gord, can you clarify/confirm the dates for the Harrison and Chilliwack counts? (Dec 20 is Saturday and Dec 21 is Sunday on my calendar.)

This will be important to some of us coming from the Abbotsford end, and I'm sure to some of the rest of you, too.

The Abbotsford-Mission date is correct.

I enthusiastically endorse your appeal for lots of people to get involved.

Stan, as of now, Im good for the Abbotsford-Mission count. For some reason, Im partial to the route I did last year. But, Ill go where needed.

That's super, Gord. I see no reason why you can't take the same area again.

I was hoping for specific confirmation either that the CBC dates were correct and the days of the week were confused, or that the dates themselves weren't correct. If there is confirmation from Denis or whoever, can you post again so we know for sure? With several of us doing several counts at that end, here, and further west, and me trying to coordinate efforts among us all, I want to know for sure well ahead of time. A little bit of organizing and encouraging can make the difference as to whether some people get involved.

Hopefully I will be able to make it out to these CBC's. Havent done one since I lived in Cranbrook, excited to participate again, maybe even bring some friends who are beginner birders. Should be fun, I havent really birded the Chilliwack area in winter before.

Ryan, sure hope you can make some or all as well! Do try to come out for the precount meeting to get your route and sign up. Im not much for public speaking, but I might as well have an audience as well.
