Stopped at Sardis Pond this afternoon to let the dogs stretch their legs between our shopping stops. There were hundreds of Canada Geese, a few Cackling Geese and one small white goose. At first I thought, because of the size and what looked like a small bill when viewed with the naked eye (left the binoculars in the car) but when I got home and down loaded the photos it is a Snow Goose. Ok....apparently I am having trouble with Photobucket again I got them uploaded there but it isn't letting me copy them to here....says it was done but with errors on the page.....what ever! Besides the Snow Goose there was one Canada Goose with some albino markings on the top and back of the head, in fact almost looked like it had snow on it's head. Kathy

Seems it works even though I got error messages as well. It must be on Photobucket's end. Nice shots of the Snow Goose. I really like the preening one with the nice water colour. A peaceful scene!
That Canada with the white on the head is really interesting!

Thanks Gord. I don't know what the problem is, I have Photobucket bookmarked so always go on the site the same way and the times it works, it comes up looking one way and the times I have trouble, it comes up looking another way. I suspect it might be security settings on my computer or with my virus protection because sometimes when I have problems there, I have problems on other websites I go to frequently, but then, without changing anything, all of a sudden I can do the same things with no problems. It is a puzzler for someone like me that can use a computer when everything works, but am at a loss when something like that happens.
As for the Goose itself, do you suppose it could be a Ross/Snow Goose cross.....it just seemed so small. I don't recall Snow Geese looking that small.

Kathy, it looks good to me for a Snow. It's always good to consider others though including hybrids which are not uncommon among waterfowl. In this case though, the large, long bill with a good black stripe and blocky looking head is good for a Snow.
I was there today but didnt see it among the thousand or so other geese.
