Hi all: A great day to be out doing whatever. There is a salmon run on Sucker's Creek/Thacker Marsh now. Probably Pink or Chum; Gord or Murray would know. This is bringing back the American Dippers. Also here, amongst the fall splendour were a female Northern Harrier, Belted Kingfisher, many Alaskan Song Sparrows, and a Cooper's Hawk. A great time to see the work done by FVRD Parks over the summer. At the airport was a Ruffed Grouse, and the most crows/ravens I have ever seen out here. Something in the cut grass of the airstrip appeals to them. At the feeder, I am getting Black-capped, and Chestnut-backed Chickadees, House Finch, Pine Siskin, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Alaskan Song Sparrow, Dark-eyed Juncos, and Steller's Jay. A Golden-crowned Kinglet is feeding in the same tree. Deb, send that Blue Jay a little south-east will you? Hope everyone is enjoying the day. Scanning the message board, I guess no one was able to relocate the Gyrfalcon. Too bad; a great bird to see, even if it an escapee. Cheers, Thor
