Hey Birders Dave, here is another one for the list. Just had a Sharp-shinned Hawk make a try for a junco; no luck.

Eurasian Collared-Doves were located today for the third month in a row( in pine trees near McDermott and Wellsline roads in Sumas Prairie). How long will they stay...how long were they there before they were located?
Enjoy your birding, Ed

You can add Spotted Sandpiper to the list. I saw one today off the Jesperson Dyke. I also saw about 10 tree swallows out there as well. First swallows this year for me.

Also can add American Dipper to the list. I had one last week singing lustily in the creek at Cheam Lake. Dad mentioned them on the Vedder River for Feb and I had better put one for January considering when I was fishing that month I remember seeing several. Ugh, overlooking common things!!

Thanks for keeping us updated on the Sumas Prairie area, ed! I have the feeling it is a great area that is under birded.

Ive been terribly busy of late but have been checking in when I can.
Quickly, I have two new species! I saw my first of the year Turkey Vulture today as well as a Common Redpoll with Pine Siskens. Both on Sumas Mountain. Hope to give a little report if I get a bit of time tomorrow.

I was at the west end of Old Orchard Road on the little mountain west of Chilliwack, scoping across the Fraser to the south shores of Nicomen Island searching for raptor nests (none to be seen) this afternoon. I noticed a strange "immature gull" with rounded wings, blocky head, floppy moth-like wingbeats and dark wrist spots. It was soaring hundreds of feet in the air. What is a Short-eared Owl doing up there in broad daylight? A new species for the March list, anyway.

I looked out my window this morning to see if the feeder needed filling, and who do I see? none other than the White-throated Sparrow making yet another cameo appearance! I haven't seen it since I reported in last month. Happy Feathery Friday!

Stan, bet you were not expecting to see that! Ah, the things that happen to keep birding interesting and fresh.
Glad to hear he's still around Terri!

Hi all: I'm not crazy enough to be running out at the airport in the current monsoon, but Jack Delair phoned me to report HORNED LARK from his property out there today. Cheers, Thor
