Dropped in for a brief visit. Even from the parking lot I could tell that there would be lots of Cackling Geese here by all the high pitched honking. I was right and figured their numbers would push 300 individuals. Many were feeding on the grass and permitted great views. Always interesting to observe how they keep together and a little apart from the Canadas. I consider these numbers to be somewhat of an anomaly. I dont remember ever seeing these many until recently (last four or five years). I have consulted with others, including old time hunters and they also agree they have not seen anything like it. Very interesting, especially that further to the west our Vancouver and area counterparts report very few each fall and winter. Also here was a lone Greater White-fronted Goose. There were five gulls here as well, none of which were an Iceland Gull. Thor, I checked each one carefully. ;D ;D
