This morning taking the family into Abbotsford we spotted four swans flying against Sumas Mountain. Their elevation and direction suggested they might have came from Goose Lake at the base of Sumas Mtn. We caught up with them at the No. 3 Rd onramp to the highway and I could see they were adult birds but could not tell if they were Tundra or Trumpeter. I rolled down the window to hear if they were vocalizing but only heard highway traffic. They are probably Trumpeters but one will never know for certain I guess.
While the report from Oct 1 is very early, Oct 15 is also on the early side of things.
