A few nights ago late, late at night i heard an owl , its call was as few as 5 and as many as 10 short hoots then a long cooing like hoot . Not sure if thats much info , it carried on for quite awhile close to 30 mins . Any guesses ?

It was a great horned owl judging by the clip and a neighbour of mine says he saw it swoop down and grab a cat the cat escaped but he says it was banged up a bit. My neighbour has a tall topped fir tree in the front of his house and the owl landed ontop of it with the cat. The cat managed to free itself and fell to the ground and ran off !

Wow, with all due respect to the poor cat, caulk one up for the birds! Seriously though, I have heard of Great Horned Owls taking a cat. They are known for getting skunks (they dont seem to mind the smell) and a cat is not much larger.
I guess we figured out the owl! ;D

Steffy, we're missing Horned Owl from our list for October. I think you're out Langley way but if you're east of 264th street, we can count that owl!
