Hi all: I seem to remember a discussion awhile back about Manning Park being part of our local area, and yet, I see some posters are reporting their sightings under the " out of town " birding section. It probably sounds a bit nit-picky, but I guess it could affect the tally of local listing birds. Any comment? Cheers, Thor

Hi Thor, back late last year or so the discussion came up and the consensus was to include Manning Park in the checklist area. Reasons being that the FVRD boundary we use is very erratic in that area but the boundary of the park is much better defined. Also, the question was raised about only having half of a park, a birding destination, included.
Not everyone was included in the discussion so some might not realize that it is considered local even though a fair ways out. Boston Bar, also in the checklist area, seems far away too considering that Boundary Bay, (out of town) is about the same driving time from Chilliwack.
This also reminds me that I was asked about the western boundary, especially north of the Fraser River. I have forgotten to locate the details of the boundary. I know much of it follows a road.
Thanks for bringing it up, Thor. Any further questions are most welcome!
