There is a bird I am not really sure of. It's been eating nyger and sunflower meats. As far as I can see, there is only one. I've had goldfinches this past summer and I'm wondering if maybe this one is a non-breeding goldfinch. It has a yellow head, olive/tan or buff underparts with a white winged bar with black stripes down flight wings. The beak is about the size or smaller then it's head and it's tail wings are shorter then it's body. The beak and legs are a light color.

Karen, it sounds like an American Goldfinch. They're moulting now and can look a little funny so your idea of a non-breeding one is probably spot on. Great description right down to what it is eating. Valuable stuff to help figure out what's flying around! Nice work.

Thanks! I now have 5 of them eating at my feeders. They disappeared for awhile and now their back.
