The Red-necked Grebe was back today, for the whole day. Saw it this morning and again late this afternoon. FOF - 2 Gold-crowned Kinglets plus lots of Yellow-rumps and Yellowthroats Also a Red-tailed Hawk and Peregrine Falcon chasing Starlings. Took me awhile to figure this one, but must be 1st winter Gold-crowned Sparrow.

I think that's a Golden-crowned Sparrow as well.
Im wondering about that waterbird there. To me it has a bit of a ring of a young Hooded Merganser maybe?
Also, wasnt it about this time last year you saw the Ash-throated Flycatcher? I think you're due for something else exciting (the Least Flycatcher and Lewis's Woodpecker AND Yellow-headed Blackbird was great though so maybe I shouldnt get greedy!! ;D )

Did some image searches in Google and agree, it's a Juvie Hooded Merganser. I've got to get the "wishfull thinking" setting on my binoculars turned down!!!

No no, keep it on! Being open to possibilities is great (and it helps you find things like Ash-throated Flycatchers which you will always be famous for!) ;D
