Hi all: Murray Brown, and I, had a chance to tour around Island 22 today. Viewing conditions were obviously ideal, although you certainly wonder, with all this great weather, how many migrants are passing right through our area. Terrible thing to hope for rain, but??? There were pockets of good bird numbers although diversification was not high. Mosquitoes are also definitely there in numbers. We tried to relocate the Western Screech Owl from Saturday, but had no luck on that bird today. A relatively complete sampling of birds observed, in no particular order:
Canada Goose Great Blue Heron Brown Creeper Black capped Chickadee Spotted Towhee American Robin Northern Flicker Downy Woodpecker Raven Glaucous winged Gull Turkey Vulture Cedar Waxwing Western Tananger Yellow rumped Warbler Townsend's Warlber Dark eyed Junco White crowned Sparrow Lincoln's Sparrow Alaskan Song Sparrow
Cheers, Thor

Darn mosquitoes. Last year they were done by the last week of August!! At risk of raising ire, I too am not opposed to a little change in the weather to shake things up a little! We could be setting ourselves up for trouble when we get a steady two weeks of rain starting Thursday... ;D
