This morning, September 14th, as Ann and I walked along the river near the Cameron Bar, a single adult, Sandhill Crane flew out from the fields and headed west down the Fraser. We exchanged calls for a while (the crane and I) and for a moment or two it looked as though it was going to turn back, but eventually changed it's mind and continued on. A small sparrow-sized bird flew in from over the river and I think it may have been a Lapland Longspur, but it was too far to make a confirmed ID and will have to remain a hypothetical.

Great find on the Sandhill Crane!
This is the time for Longspurs so I bet you had one too.
