Just a FYI, I finally gave the last of two little gifts of appreciation to the two homeowners who allowed birders to come see their rarities this year. These were the Costa's Hummingbird from May and the Lesser Goldfinch. I gave a small gift and a card on behalf of everyone. The Costa's Hummingbird gift got two photos of the Costa's in a double frame and the Lesser Goldfinch, appropriately, some Nyger seed.
Thanks again to those who were so accommodating! ;D ;D ;D

Thanks, Gord, for your thoughtfulness in bringing us the card and large container of Nyger. Much appreciated.
We felt very privileged to have so many keen birders come and share their excitement with us at seeing this rare species (about the seventh confirmed record of Lesser Goldfinch for BC and Canada). It was really great, too, to have a situation where virtually everyone who came was successful in seeing it.
I also learned a great deal about a wide variety of topics (mostly about birds) from all the conversations that I listened to while people waited for the bird to appear at the feeders.
Birders are such wonderful people that I had no hesitation to open our yard to anyone who was interested, and we had no problems whatever with anyone. It was all a very positive experience.
Thanks again, Gord, and everyone else.
Stan and Marijke

I should also mention while I was visiting the homeowner who had the Costa's Hummingbird he confirmed he has had Anna's Hummingbirds daily at his feeders. He also had one nest and suspects a second possibly as well. He did see young ones so nesting was successful.
